Due to seasonal shifts, Kuaka is now being held out of water, undergoing a cyclic moment of reflection, development, and maintenance.
This project aims to share in the experience of surroundings, with an attention paid to examining relations in a constant cyclic state of flux. The act of presentation aims to highlight relations within these moments of flux. The examination of relation exists in social, physical, temporal terms.
Kuaka, the small boat, is in its own state of mereological flux. The presented works explore the harnessing and use of readily available gifts of elemental energies that enable momentum in relation to the made object. On the water the small boat utilises wind for forward momentum; when there is no wind the auxiliary motor is required. To continue this momentum, the battery that drives this motor must maintain / renew its stored energy. When sailing Kuaka the battery is held in the aft hatch, but this hatch does not have a cover. Without a hatch cover the battery is left exposed to its surroundings. The development of a hatch cover becomes a response to examined relations between seemingly separate parts.
There is only one constant, the imminence of change/ everything is in a state of flux.
